This guild was founded by Apollon on the 12th of February 2005. 2 days after vanilla WoW launched in Europe. It\s one of the oldest Shattered Hand EU guilds.
Back in the first days of endgame wow when Stratholme & Scholomance were the top instances for 10 people bonds were formed between the few dozens of level 60's on Shattered Hand EU. It was originally a paladin guild, the name 'Of The Hammer' originates from wh40k universe.
In beta Apollon was the gm of a guild "ordo malleus" which is latin for Order of the Hammer. The Order had one rule back then: 'be nice'. Being helpful, fair, not itemgreedy and always relaxed in instances, even after a wipe on General Drakkisath.
In March 2005 we fielded our first guild UBRS run. We also took part in the first Onyxia alliance kill, after a week of wipes she was killed together with tAD & MM.
Doing 40 man raids wasn't possible on our own yet, so we needed to expand. During April 2005 OOTH tripled in size, after large groups from Pact Of Light, Arena guardians (ic³) and Bladewing joined our forces.
On the 16th of May 2005 we had our first own MC run and downed Lucifron. Other memorable dates in OOTHs history include: 19th July Majordomo, 9th August Azuregos, 25th August Ragnaros, 10th October Thunderaan (Server first), 26th October Razorgore, 19th December Nefarian.
Huhuran 13th March 2006, C'Thun 30th April 2006, Ouro June 4th & Viscidus June 8th. Out came Naxxramas, the most demanding raid instance so far. With summer coming up many guilds chose to take a break, we did not. Five crazy months of hardcore raiding, up to 7 nights a week, wiping like never before. We had to recruit several new people to keep the raid machine running but not without success. The great GM that year was also our Main Tank Despotes, who inspired many to keep going strong.
A spree of server firsts followed and to date we are the only SH guild to succesfully completed all of the pre-expansion content, by killing Kel'thuzad.
Notable dates: 4th July Maexxna, 27th July Patchwerk, 15th August Thaddius, 16th September Loatheb, 24th October The Four Horsemen, 7th November Sapphiron & finally on the 27th November 2006 Kel'Thuzad.
In 2007, The Burning Crusade arrived, some burned out people left, some others got disappointed with the game, new folks showed up, a new GM stood up. Order of the Hammer celebrated their 2 year old anniversary. Raiding has continued, although not always at the same pace as 2006, however we adapted to the loss of members, and recruited accordingly, and progress has resumed.
